well..
today i had my first singles SPEX match in let's say....
9 months?
and it was against some guy called Bong, Yuho in the first round
i didnt really know much about him.. but still
and the good thing about this tournament was that it was held at Jurong Country Club
which is super near to my house...
so.. i got there and before i knew it.. i was playing already..
i didnt really know much about him..
but i knew that i'd played him before..
in a doubles match last holidays... and douglas and i lost to him and his partner
:O
we lost pretty badly too..
but still.. i was pretty confident and excited to get back onto the hard court
was down. 1-4..
really was feeling like it wasnt my day..
but i managed to fight back to 3-4.
and after that?
i kept on making stupid mistakes..
and he was back to 3-6 .
fought back to 5-6..
and from then he won another 2 games..
and i didnt even realise that i was going to lose should i lose the next game..
so that score was.. 5-8
really.. mentally i wasnt challenged in a LONG while..
and this time.. i really thought i could win..
i was like.. 'who cares.. just whack now'
and surprisingly..
i played better..
wth.. =.=
he was serving for e match.. and didnt really serve well.
so.. i got 1 game back..
6-8.
still he had to only win 4 points to win the match..
and it was my serve..
it was 40-40..
sudden death..
really really nerve-recking..
but he hit a ball out..
so from then on.. i really thought i could win it..
so. when it was he's turn to serve.. i whacked a little harder..
and i won that game..
so?
it was 8-8..
which meant it would go to the tie breaker..
in the tie breaker...
it was 3-3 at first..
after the change-over..
he made some unforced errors..
which made it..
5-4 in my favour..
but it was my turn to serve.. and in the end?
i won the tie breaker 7-4.
Final score?
9-8 (7-4)
was really really elated..
it was a long time since i had won a singles match..
and to win it against a 16 year old.. from RI
was a real accomplishment for me.
credit to him for making it a tough fight..
and all the best to him in e future.
but this really proves that Mental Strength is really important in tennis..
you may have all the power.. but if your mind isnt strong..
your power does nothing when you're down..
today.. was really good..
felt very relieved
but tmr..
facing seeded 11th William matison..
hope i can pull off what i did today
:D
